"The new Irish whisky"
Back to all meetings
In an old children's song, everything was orange: the sky, the sea, mothers, and children. If it had been an Irish song, everything would have been green: the sea and the sky, but not whisky! Irish whisky is one of the oldest spirits in Europe. According to the legend, the inhabitants of the country of Eire learned the art of distillation from Saint Patrick. In the old days, Irish whisky was distinguished by its decent quality and was popular not only in its homeland but throughout Europe and even in America.

This idyll lasted until the beginning of the 20th century. The joy of Ireland's independence from the English crown was significantly spoiled by the embargo imposed by England on the export of the spirit. Out of about 2 thousand distilleries, only two have been preserved. The remaining distilleries were Midleton and Bushmills. Only in 1989, Cooley joined them.

Today, things are much better - new production facilities are opening, there are already more than 30 of them, work with grain and barrels is reaching a new level. Manufacturers learn from each other and try not to make previous mistakes. All this definitely gives its results.
